CAROLINA FERNANDES, PLASTIC ARTIST AND BAR MANAGER

Among my daily favorites are a seaside lunch and drawing outdoors

She was born in Funchal, but with 30 years of age, the plastic artist has set her home at the Arco da Calheta, in the municipality that distinguishes itself from the others for its “diversity and amplitude”. Aside from this council, she recommends to all those that visit Madeira, to discover Ponta do Sol, “for the strong connection that it has with culture”, as well as the inevitable Funchal, Madeira’s cosmopolitan capital. Among her daily favorites are a “dive in the ocean, followed by a seaside lunch, and drawing outdoors”; these sound like rather easy tasks to accomplish, considering we are in an island with an “excellent climate”, and in a place that she describes as “a perfect spot, given the sea’s proximity to the hills”. Carolina Fernandes also heralds Madeira’s hospitality and gastronomy, and knows that only here will she find “a good corn with tuna steak and drink a beautiful regional punch (preferably, the one from Serra d’Água!)”.
