Fafe’s municipality is an entry door to the Minho region, and it’s known for its unique natural resources, a strong rural identity, an excellent gastronomy, its historic built-up heritage and its large events, that project Fafe into the limelight throughout the year.

Tourism is one of Fafe’s strategic sectors.  As such, all the relevant aspects of its architectonic, landscaping and natural wealth are put to use in their best potential by the municipal authorities and private entrepreneurs, in order to attract visitors to the municipality.

This ‘Land of Thrills’ is also warranting attention thanks to sportscar racing. Portugal’s Rally has returned to Fafe, bringing with it the passion of thousands of car racing fans, that exult as each car speeds by at the already famous ‘Lamerinha Jump’. Fafe – a place for sports for everyone – puts forward a diversified and integrative selection of several sport infrastructures, focused on the practice of a variety of sport modalities, at both professional and amateur levels.

Fafe also honours the sentiment of those that consider it a ‘Land of Charms’, through its picturesque scenic views of green hills and of the running water at the Queimadela Reservoir Lake, that satisfies one’s sight and breathing. This site attracts thousands of tourists throughout the beach season, looking for alternative spots, away from the more popular coastal and lake resorts.

The famed Roasted Veal, Fafe’s Way, the ex-libris of the town’s culinary tradition, has in fact established the entire municipality as a ‘Land of Flavours’, making it a required stop for all those that appreciate this specialty, still prepared in an old-fashioned, rustic wood-burning oven; served with the local vinho verde (green wine), a typical meal would finish with the traditional doces de gema (egg yolk cookies) or the tasty pão-de-ló (sponge cake).

One also finds Fafe to be a ‘Land of Culture’, equipped with one of the most attractive performance theatre houses in Portugal: the Fafe Teatro Cinema. As a hub of cultural activity, Fafe is regularly the stage for many important social, political and cultural events, all object of acclaimed praises by the participants.
