Miguel Pita, the forerunner of the adventure tourism in Madeira

What I really like is to go missing a whole day in Madeira

Physical education teacher, diver, mountain climber, author and presenter of nature documentaries, founder of one of the first adventure tourism companies in Madeira, professor at the Tourism School… The curriculum of Miguel Pita is long and varied, and the recognition of his experience has made him an active voice in the development of nature tourism in the archipelago. Lover of ancient tourism literature, Miguel Pita has been collecting guides that atest that Madeira has been developing nature tourism for 200 years already. Given all this, Miguel is much requested to accompany groups on his tours around the island, but what he really likes is to “go missing a whole day”. Probably to take a hike on the mountain, take a dip in the sea and, at night, to dine in the Old Town of Funchal.
