SALVATO TELES DE MENEZES, PRESIDENT OF THE D. LUÍS I FOUNDATION

In Cascais there is everything that exists in a big city, with all the advantages of being a village

Twenty five years ago, when he was invited to become the delegate administrator of the “Cascais armed wing for Culture” (as the current Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, calls the D. Luís I Foundation), Salvato Teles de Menezes moved from Lisbon to Cascais and says he has gained in quality of life. “In Cascais there is everything that exists in a big city, with all the advantages of being a village”, he justifies. The tranquility of a still reasonably small area adds to the benefits of the proximity of the sea and the mountains, the enormous paths for walks and the mild climate. In addition to this natural wealth, there is the strong investment of the City Council in all sectors of community life, namely in culture.  A fact to which the translator and specialist in American literature is relevant, given his involvement in the programming of the cultural facilities that constitute the Museum Quarter.
