GASTRONOMY: Oxalá

Not every day is the same, and some days are of celebration! That’s what we did in yesterday’s pleasant evening at the Oxalá restaurant in Ovar. A remarkable place, to be enjoyed without hurry.
It’s always good to be welcomed … with a glass of sparkling wine even better… such is the case of this space, in which we are greeted with just sliced ham, cheese, other petiscos and lots of excitement, even before we reached the dining room. Attention, the hosts like to prank those who visit them… but we won’t tell anything so we don’t spoil the surprise.

There’s the possibiity of visiting the recently opened Adega, a treasure in the eyes of any wine lover.We stayed there wandering for a time, taking pictures, taking notes and dreaming.
For the meal, one of the specialities, Miminhos à Oxalá, accompanied by a wine suggested by the house, since we already wanted to taste this Xaino. It is the main reference of Quinta Vale d’Aldeia, a great wine project by two brothers from Meda, in upper Douro. The name originated in a masonic term popular in the 14th century, meaning “wine”.
A good company for a romantic meal, like it was intended…
